Distance Education Requirements

Online and hybrid courses at Cypress College use the Blackboard online course system.

Hardware and Software Requirements

To access your Blackboard course site you will need to have Internet access, a valid email account, and the use of a computer with a Blackboard supported browser and operating system. For a current list please refer to Blackboard’s Supported Browsers & Operating Systems page link located on the Blackboard login page. Cypress College campus computers for online and hybrid student use are available in the Learning Resource Center in the first floor of the LLRC building.

Basic Skill Requirements

We encourage you to take the Cypress College Distance Education Readiness Quiz to help you determine if your learning needs match the demands of distance learning. Both online and hybrid Distance Education courses require that you know how to:

  • Use email
  • Use word-processing programs
  • Save documents
  • Navigate and search the Internet
  • Install new software applications
