Veterans Certification: How a Veteran Becomes a Cypress Student

    New Students

  • Arrive at the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) to begin education benefits process
  • Become a Cypress College student by applying online
  • Speak to a Veterans Resource Center representative to find out what benefits you qualify for
  • Complete intake form and turn in DD-214 discharge document.
  • Apply for corresponding benefit (i.e., Ch. 1606, 1607, 30, 31, 33, 35) using ebenefits.
  • Visit the financial aid website for instructions on how to apply for financial aid. (The Cypress Collegepriority deadline is March 2 for maximum aid benefits)

    Matriculation

  • Begin planning for your future
  • Complete math and english assessment test. Students with prior credit from a previous college advance to the next step.
  • Make an appointment to see the VA academic counselor
  • Complete the Veterans online Orientation before you meet with the counselor.
  • Fill out Veteran Enrollment Form (VEF)with the VA academic counselor ( each semester if you want to collect benefits) and Student educational plan (SEP)

    Certification Process

  • Certification
  • Once you have seen Robert and filled out a VEF you are ready to be certified
  • Veterans should receive book stipend before school begins
  • Veterans should be paid by the VA monthly.
