“The Time of Your Life” a comedy by William Saroyan
Directed by Mark Majarian
The streetwalker adrift with the proverbial heart of gold. The compassionate saloon-keeper. The neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name--or at least, wants to know it. The American Dream: ragged, bruised, but not surrendered.
"In the time of your life live seek goodness everywhere, and when it is found, bring it out of its hiding place and let it be free and unashamed ...”
As a snapshot of America singing the blues of the Great Depression and living under the shadow of war, The Time of Your Life embraced passions close to Saroyan's heart — optimism, romantic love, the power of hope, love of country, compassion for those trapped by the whispered painful truths of poverty. Saroyan celebrates the value of a life lived fully in pursuit of something larger than oneself rather than a life impoverished by the sole pursuit of money. Saroyan beckons us to remember that every man is a variation of ourselves and to live the time of our lives with a smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it.
These sentiments have gained renewed relevance at this present time in America.
