At Cypress College:After coming to Cypress from Concordia, Graves was the number one pitcher for Cypress on their State Championship run. Graves started 30 games and appeared in 32 to post a 27-3 record which puts her at eighth for Cypress’s single season win record. Graves pitched 21 complete games with seven shutouts for a team leading ERA of 1.11 keeping batters to an average of .202. Against Riverside College, Graves pitched a complete game shutout allowing just two hits and striking out six. The very next game, Graves struck out 11 in six innings. Graves’s efforts earned her Orange Empire Conference pitcher of the year and first team all-State. Graves pitched in seven post season games for Cypress including four of the five in the state tournament earning her Most Valuable Pitcher of the tournament.
At Concordia University: Posted a 7-4 record for the Eagles in 26 appearances with an ERA of 2.50 in 98 innings of work and striking out 40. Graves pitched a 6 inning shutout against Dominican.
High School Highlights: A standout pitcher for Pioneer Baptist, Graves was selected to the first team all-Express League all four years including Most Valuable Player honors for the league her junior and senior season. Her efforts on the mound earned her defensive player of the year all four years for both her school and the league. She was selected to the second team all-Southern Section CIF team her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Graves pitched her way to the Division VI record for strike outs in one season with 249.
Personal: Parents are Max and Jauquina Graves, sibling is Max.
Notes: Also played varsity basketball and volleyball. Favorite quote is, “win every pitch”.
