Mark Feitelson

Dr. Mark Alan Feitelson (Class of 1972), is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on hepatitis B and C viruses.

Dr. Feitelson is professor of Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology, and professor of Microbiology and Immunology, at Temple University.

He is also co-director of the university’s Biotechnology Center. Prior to this, he was director of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania, where he was also on the faculty.

In addition, he is visiting professor at four universities in China, the recipient of 42 awards and grants, and has had published 70 original research articles and 29 reviews.

Dr. Feitelson received a degree from Cypress College in 1972, a B.S. from UC Irvine in 1974, and a Ph.D. from UCLA in 1979.

He attributes much of his success to the education he received at Cypress College, and remains in touch with retired Cypress College professor Tom Lubin.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Feitelson is married and has three children.
